Snake still isnt eating, ive had him for about a month now... Is there anything about the cage thats not up to spec? Should I try a live mouse as opposed to the frozen fuzzies ive been using?

    Thanks

    Re: My Rubbermaid Setup

ive bumped the temps on each side up from 92/82 to 94/84, trying to stimulate feeding response. Do the wads of newspaper help? Someone recomended that to me as its a young BP

    Re: My Rubbermaid Setup

The point of the paper "wads" is to fill the entire enclosure with loosely crumpled paper...not tight wads of it. If the tub (or cage or whatever) is filled like that, the snake feels more "hidden" and can slither around in the paper without feeling like it is being exposed to predators.

The trick is for when you have an extremely shy or non-eating snake that seems insecure. After a couple weeks of having the paper, (and a successful feeding or two) you start to slowly, gradually decrease the amount of paper it has to hide in, until eventually it is all gone. Hopefully by then the snake is fully adjusted to its current environment.

also, what is your humidity? try to keep it at 50-60%

the newspaper balls really help. that's what i did to get zulu to eat, but i COVERED the whole enclosure with paper balls.

Is your AcuRite mounted on the outside of the enclosure? Hard to tell with the picture.

    Re: My Rubbermaid Setup

Ok so.... yeah thats an Acu-rite on the outside. Also should i put more paper wads in the tank? Do they need be tighter or looser? About the humidity, I dont think the Ac-urite gives quite an "accu-rite" measure of the humidity in the tank, i mist twice a day, have a humid hide, that i refresh every day or so, and the water dish is on top of the hot side of the tank but the hygrometer never registers it as above 30-40ish.....but his last shed was pretty much perfect, so i dunno

    Thanks,
    Austin
