First Shed (for me)
Ewww its so gross the old skin is wet and it has eyes and a mouth and the little heat censor thingys nobody told me it was going to be that nasty! well, he did it so why is he still shy? he still wouldn't come out when i opened the tank (usually when i do he comes out to see whats going on and get picked up) and not only that but he tried to stop me from picking him up by grabbing onto things! do they forget you or something while they're shedding? i gave him a bath (his new skin was dirty) and moisturized him lol he is VERY upset with me... any opinions on why he's still being mean to me?

Umm..Skip the baths in the future. You can do more harm than good. What did you moisturize him with?

Re: First Shed (for me)
The vet said to give him baths in lukewarm bowls of water... lol I moisturized him with my Victoria Secret lotion... j/p it's this spray I bought from the doctor's office it's for making the tank humid and helping them stay shiny and shed easy. How can water do harm to him? It's acutally in the instructions on the care sheet he gave me for balls...

Its not the water that will do the damage but how about the drastic change in temperatures when you take the snake out of the water and walk through the house where the temps are not as stable as his enclosure. Why did the vet say to give him baths? Does he have a skin problem of some sort?

Re: First Shed (for me)
please tell me the vicky lotion is a joke? not only is that a waste of expensive lotion but snakes don't need it! nor do they need any shedding aids. keeping the proper humidity is all they need 50-60%. if you have a bad shed, soak your snake in room temp water for and hour and peel it off. please check out the bp caresheet on this site.

Re: First Shed (for me)
I am pretty sure the stress your snake has undergone in the last few days is enough to make him a little moody. I have found that there is nothing wrong with just letting your snake be after a shed, esp if the shed is caused by stress.
Warm baths arent to bad if your snake has a problem shedding but I bet the other poster was right about the temperature change, alot of your balls attitude and life depends on that.

Thanks 4khan for answering my question! yea i thought the temperature thing would bother him so every time i give him a bath i wrap him in a warm towel from the dryer. hes acting normal now i guess he just had to get used to being out again. LOL i would never waste my lotion on a snake
