About six years ago, my friend and her husband bought a small 7 acre farm. She has really been getting into livestock these last couple years, and has quite the collection: chickens, pigs, and seven sheep. Well, for Christmas she bought a ram to put in with her sheep, because she wants some lambs for meat this spring. So, when she put him in the pen with the ladies, he refused to look at even a single one. she became very upset, because this guy was pretty expensive. So, after a trip to the vet it was determined he had an injured foot. After nursing the leg back which put a major time damper in her already late breeding project, she purchased a "breeding harness" to put on the male. It goes around his hind quarters and has a holder for a large piece of colored chalk. Whenever he was "with one of the ladies", it would mark her rear end indicated she had been bred. different colored chalk for different days of the week. on this particular night, she used the blue chalk. She put himin the pen overnight and the next day.....
Every single sheep had a "blue mark", but some also had; blue noses; blue eyes; blue ears; blue shoulders.
