Newspaper
I know that there are many threads on newspaper and such but i didnt find one asking about humidity atleast my question. If you use newspaper and get it wet enough it will turn into mold/ mildew and give the snake belly rot correct?? My question is would it be better to jsut use reptibark if I can not control the humidity of the house?
Thanks,
Keith

Re: Newspaper
Many many people use newspaper in their enclosures without a problem with mold and belly rot.
If you perform your daily maintenance like a good little snakey owner, everything will be fine.

Re: Newspaper
open the tub.... look inside....see if the newspaper is wet....if it is change it out...give the snake fresh water... and most importantly...
make sure the snake is there lol

Re: Newspaper
Newspaper rocks. Unlimited supply, free, easy to clean and throw away. I will prob move to kraft paper soon as the only thing I dislike is the newsprint left behind on my hands and on the tubs.

Re: Newspaper
yeah but keeping the humidity up, not being able to spray the cage down is hard

Re: Newspaper
OOOoooohhhh, you're using a GLASS cage???
I thought you were using a tub! Personally, I can see reptile bark being easier to use for glass.

Re: Newspaper
i have a rack now but i use to mist newspaper because i used bulbs and CHE's. just lightly though. it never grew mold and my snakes never got belly rot, the only thing that would happen is when it would dry out it would make 'waves'.

Re: Newspaper
I use newspaper (and unprinted newspaper sheets) for all but my sand boas. I spray it down to up humidity. Never had a problem. Just be sure you clean the cage when it gets dirty. I check each snake usually twice a week at least, but at a glance I can see (sometimes smell lol) if someone's made a mess, and I'll clean it when I see it.
