The guy that I bought my snake from said I need a electrolyte supplement to put in the water....and it makes the water slimy. Do I really need it?

You do not need any supplements.

Nope. I have never heard of anyone using such a thing.. sounds like a great way to make you part with more money.

    Re: electrolyte supplement?

they did that to me too when i first got vanessa. is it called reptisafe or something?

i just use fresh water. you can even let a container of tap water sit overnight and let the chlorine disipate and use it the next day.

    Re: electrolyte supplement?

It is called reptisafe and it adds electrolyte and removes the chemicals from tap water.
You by no means need it. Most don't use it at all.

I use it only cause I have been using since the day I got my bp and I just don't like to change if everything is ok. Never noticed it making the water slimey, tho.

Use it , don't use it . I don't think it makes one difference.
