    would you consider doing that?

well, sometimes i let my baby ball python curl around my neck
funny how those babies are strong enough to strangle you
i wonder if someone would leave an adult ball python around your neck!
    just a thought!!

Re: would you consider doing that?

I think I'd be comfortable with an adult ball perched over my shoulders and around the back of my neck...but I wouldn't let one circle my throat entirely...especially if I was alone with it. It's not that I think I could not unwrap a determined ball....but you'd be amazed at how fast you can black out if the pressure on your neck is across critical arteries.

I let mine curl around my entire neck a lot. Blackback is my largest male ball python, and he is around the four foot mark now I think. He rides my neck a lot. Sometimes he does clamp down, especially if he slides around. I have not even come close to passing out. And you are right about the unpeeling them off your neck, it is really easy to do.
The only ones I do not let on my neck are a few that are really high strung, and I worry about them biting me in the face. Still not worried that I will get strangled.

I think it's the "mothering" in me....I have an over-active imagination when it comes to "worst case scenarios." LOL In this case, it doesn't seem like a huge sacrifice to avoid that particular scene.

i let both of my BP's curl around my neck. zulu is the largest one i have and hes a little over four feet. nothing bad has ever happened while he was around my neck. he does, sometimes, tighten up for a better grip but thats about all.

Re: would you consider doing that?

I've let my BPs curl around my neck entirely. I am not concerned. They don't see me as a food source and any slight constricting that they do is just to get closer to the warmth of my neck. Not something I would worry terribly about.

Re: would you consider doing that?

Um.. well I used to hold a 10'+ burmese python around my neck all the time when I worked at the reptile zoo. Burms are like limp noodles most of the time though.. I also had a 15lb BCI there that I'd hold too, they hold on a bit tighter, but they never made me nervous being around my neck. I never let any of them completely encircle my neck.
