    I'm so pathetic!

OK, with just Kashmire - I was buying one or two mice a week and keeping them in a Kritter Keeper that has a slot for a water bottle. Served its purpose, mice seemed happy enough.

Now that I have six "kids", I am, of course, buying more mice each week. Feeding day is Tuesday, mouse replenishment is Wednesday. So, since some of the kids are eating multiples, I bought 10 of them (all the same sex) and bought a large, flat Kritter Keeper yesterday, put little pieces of cardboard in there with them and half a paper towel cardboard roll, figured give them something to keep them busy and less likely to fight each other, as well as fresh water and good food. They were doing perfectly well in there, no fights or anything. In fact had much more space than they did in the tanks at the pet store.

But is that good enough for Robin???? Oh no! I'm in PetSmart picking up some dog food and planned to stop by the small animal section for one of those little balls you put mice or hamsters in to let them run around on the floor (I also seem to now have two "pet" mice that survived Kash's 4 1/2 month fast that I am reluctant to feed off - so figured they could have some time out of their little home to run around).

What do I walk out with? A freaking mouse condo contraption with a little running wheel, areas where you can expand with tubes (no tubes bought but seriously considered), a little built in house, and mousey toys. Did I need it? Nope! But I figured the little mice can have one nice week for their last week of life and not get bored. Am I pathetic or what?

They're having a grand time on the running wheel! LOL

LOL! A happy mouse is a healthy mouse! And a healthy mouse is a healthy snake!

Either that...or we just LOVE to shop!

Lol! I wouldn't worry *too* much till she starts letting them loose in hamster balls around the house. But yeah. Such a softy! But like Judy said, no worries of sick mice!

OMG - 10 mice - let me tell you, I didn't know what all the fuss was about regarding stinky mice when I'd have two or three of them - but EGADS!!!!

But I did think of you specifically Jo and being kind to the feeders! They HAVE enjoyed their little condo, but started squabbling over who got to run on the wheel last night - today is feeding day, I'll let the snakes settle the fights! LOL

I did get a hamster ball too.

But that's for the two that I'm reluctant to feed off that have managed to become pets. Just how long is a mouse's lifespan? The guy at the pet store said the albinos tend to get cancer and die at about a year. Any truth to this? If so, I'll only have pets for another six months or so.

Hi Robin! I think the guy at the store might be wrong. I had an albino mouse as a pet many years ago and it lived about two years....

Two years???? Ack! We might just have to shorten their life-span after all!
