pastel pics please
i have a chance to buy a pastel boa red tail that was born in august of 05. Just curious as to what she should look like. anybody have any pictures? and how much more should a pastel be than a normal red tail? thanks

In all fairness the term "pastel" is over used when describing a boa constrictors. Many people call a boa that has vivid colors a pastel (check out boaphiles pastels @ boaphile.com), but it doesn't really make it one. The above link should give U a little more idea what exactly a pastel boa is. A pastel boa has a washout of black in the saddles and side diamonds...here is a picture of my boa which I bought as a pastel, and agree it fits the characteristics of a pastel. Notice the overall washout in black even tho he isn't very colorful.

Pastels can range from $125 to $500 depending on overall color, wash out, underlying color, bloodline (Ronne, Dubay, EVB, Davey), etc. Look for those traits and select the Pastel for your specific breeding project.
