Finally got them separated.

I finally got my BPs into different tubs. I had the flex Watt and thermostat for a few weeks, but didn't have the rack system ready yet. I didn't want to apply the flex Watt to the bottom of the tubs so I waited till I could get it finished. Here is the end result. I made it out of 1/2" MDF. I primed it and then painted it white. Next time I will used 3/4 inch, and pay more attention to the tightness of the opening. This setup is pretty snug.



Now Its time to get down with an incubator

Wow Josh that's a nice job! What a change for the snakes to have their own digs and settle in. It's just a lovely two tub rack and personally I think you've made all the best decisions....congrats!

Great job on the rack!

A couple small suggestions, though. You may want to put some holes on those bins with either a soldering iron or drill for added ventilation. Also, that bowl on the bottom cage looks like it's just asking to be tipped over.

Bins are full of holes already. Just probably cannot see them in the pics. In fact I just added mre to the first container I had because it was still holding tomuch humidity. I think its undercontrol now that I filled each side with holes. I will be looking into some glass dishes. We have some at school, and I just need to get in touch with the ordering guy and find out where to order them from. They are a thick bottomed glas dish that has a smaller foot print then the blue dish, but holds as much. The bottom dish is just a gladware bowl until I can get the glas dishes. I am not fond of the blue dish. It takes up to much room. Thanks for the compliments on the shelf. It took me about 2 days to build. That is including the pain job.

No LMAO just need to put a couple coats of primer on the MDF and then a couple coats of white paint and its fine. Just takes time for paint to dry. MDF is much easier to work with than the other stuff recomended, and you can form it with sand paper while it is unpainted. Contrary to popular belief MDF doesn't swell easy like particle board does. In fact I had a few pieces of scraps that were left in the rain that look just as they did after cutting. The paint helps to protect it too. It doesn't ship like the other stuff. If you round off the corners you can keep it from chipping. You can knick it, but you can if you hit the other stuff hard too. Maybe not quite as easy, but it is easier to work with. I should have measured the shelf spaces a little better instead of just setting the shlef on top of the tub and attaching, because the tubs are a snug fit to get in and out, but all in all it came out rather well if I do say so myself.

ive used MDF board numerous times back when i used to build sub woofer boxes...

the only issues ive EVER run into with MDF, other than its cheap cost (rules) is that it will split, predrilled or not, it splits. however all screws are ment to do is hold the MDF together until the glue dries, and Gorilla Glue is AMAZING stuff

Well I only had 2 places split on this build. Yes I used it for speaker boxxes as well. I found that a brad nail gun worked wonders not to split the wood. This rack I built is NOT glued together its 1/2 in and uses supports on the back to keep it from swaying. 5 screws per shelf and side. And I only split it in two places where I drilled the hole too close to the side and once where I forgot to pre drill. The biggest thing I found was stripping out the hole if I wasn't careful. If I have to do it again I will use 3/4 inch since my sub box is made from that and rock solid.
