    Air Holes For Tubs

I'll be receiving my Nature's Spirit rack soon that holds 3 sterilite 1960 tubs. The question is when I get the rack do I have to put holes in the tubs or is it fine the way it is? If I have to put holes, how many and what can I use for making them?

    Thanks,
    Rusty

For air exchange I would put holes in the tubs. Get an inexepensive soldering iron and go to town on it. put a series of holes in each side 2"-3" apart. Good luck! Casey makes some great racks.

Soldering irons work great...but be sure to do so in a well ventilated area!

I use a hand drill. I have the same rack and drilled four large holes in each tub.

A soldering iron used to melt holes though will result in nice rounded, smoothed if a bit blobby-edged holes... however do do it outside the fumes will be NASTY!

A drill works too, but make sure to file down the rough edges of the holes after you are done.

Yes, but it is necessary to do it? Will the snakes live without having the holes?

Good air circulation is VERY important for the health of any animal. Unless the tops are open, which wouldn't work too well with snakes...then you should have at least some airholes around the perimeter.

You don't want stagnant air for your snakes, do you?

My drill makes nice holes that don't have sharp edges. I just pull off the little bits that sometimes hang on.
