    heating

hello i'm new to bp.net (but lurking and learning a lot for a couple months) i don't have a snake yet but hopefully i'll be able to get one soon....i want to test my setup first and i'm having a problem with my heating....i have a cb70 tub and a zoomed uth...my temps were 79 on hot side and 67 on cool side after 6 hours, i emailed matt at mgreptiles and he said it's probably not working and to take it back, however i didn't explain how i had it set up, which may be my problem
i had the uth on the floor and the tub about 1" away from it cause i read that there needed to be airflow, but should i have put it on the bottom of the tub and elevated the tub?

I don't like those zoomed ones.. they are ridiculously priced in the pet stores. Take it back if you can, and get Matt to set you up with some flexwatt and a thermostat.. or two (one heat mat and t-stat for each side) if your house is cold.

    Re: heating

Yeah you stick them to the surface you want to heat, and have an air flow under the whole thing (1/4 - 1/2" is fine).

    Re: heating

Yes, your problem is that the it is supposed to be stuck directly to the tub, and then have the tub elevated.

zoomed arent great. I leave mine on full blast on a glass tank in a 75-80 degree room and the surface temps of the glass have yet to get above 98
