Re: I took the hide advice:-D
Looking good . Is the heat lamp your only source of heat for the tank? If so (when $$ permits) try to work on swapping that out with a UTH (under the tank heating pad) and using a thermostat to regulate the temps. A tank that large posses a challenge in itself when trying to keep humidity levels acceptable (50%-60%), the lamp will just rob you of the remaining humidity. The benefit here is for shedding . In the meantime you can try covering the top with a towel, at least 2/3. Hope this helps.

Having one glass tank and five plastic tubs, I have to say, plastic tubs are the way to go! So easy to maintain, low maintenance, and the snakes love the low ceiling as well, for added security.
Great job on adding more hides - I know he feels much safer now!

Re: I took the hide advice:-D
Rather than a towel, which can hold bacteria and get a bit ick, a lot of folks seem to use that press n seal gladwrap stuff. Cheap as dirt and does a decent job at keeping in humidity. Just keep the hot lamp well back from it of course and allow open areas for ventilation. Should help a fair bit with the humidity problems. Glass tanks are nice sometimes but dang they are more work LOL. Our milk and the BCI are in glass and it's always way more work, especially at shed time, then all the sterlite tubs I have combined.
