Clay English, Oz at ozzyboids.com, Mark at Locolizards.com, and, of course, Jeff at boaphile.com.

Most boas will be dropping their litters here in the next month or two, so you'll be seeing a LOT more babies for sale if you wait a bit.

What would be the size of an adult Columbian BCI Female and Male?

Also, i understand the difference between the patterns of BCI and BCC, but what about attitude? and size is an issue as well right?

Here is our caresheet for BCI's: http://ball-pythons.net/modules.php?...warticle&id=13

I have heard that bcc's are a tad bit more tempermental, but b/c I have a BCI I cannot confirm that. Also, size difference is alot, bcc's get alot bigger and are not as forgiving of husbandry mistakes.

Another great breeder that was not mentioned yet is Alex Hue. He is not in Florida, but well worth the shipping rates.

    Re: Thinking about buying BCI..

I have BCI and BCC.. BCC can get bigger, but not the ridiculous lengths like 12-14' that you hear about. That would be highly unusual. 9' at the top end is more normal.. and even BCI are known to be 10' on occasion.

My BCI hog island female is pretty nice. She does hiss though

My juvie BCC surinam hisses in cage, but is quite docile.

My 5' male surinam BCC is very docile.

and the 7-8' female surinam BCC is a handful. She will strike at you and tries to get away.. but a lot of it has to do with her not being handled much by the previous owners.

Hoggies are a great choice! Ssscales who is a contributor here has some beautiful snakes and I believe will have babies available this year! She is in Florida as well.

    Re: Thinking about buying BCI..

Well i like how a BCC will keep the bright red on its tail. But a BCC gets so much bigger than a BCI. Is there a way to control the length? i could deal with 8 or 9 feet...10+ is pushing it. I'm already in an apartment where they frown upon these types of pets (jerks...)...If i limit it's feeding to large rats and a 6 foot cage, will it stay a little shorter?

    Re: Thinking about buying BCI..

You don't want to stunt growth.. but large rats 1x a week is fine.

Cage size has absolutely nothing to do with the growth of the snake.

10'+ is unusual for any boa constrictor subspecies.. but BCI especially hog island boas, nicaraguan, and central american tend to stay smaller.

I read somewhere that booze is the best thing to make a snake let go, not beer but rum or vodka etc.
