Other than the obvious, what's your favorite snake?

Besides ball pythons? Ball pythons are most definitely my favorite, but years down the road, I might be interested in acquiring another species of snake as a pet only. Balls are the only species that I'm interested in breeding.

So, out of your own personal collection, what's your favorite snake, other than a ball - and why? In Georgia, we cannot own corn snakes or king snakes (since they are indigenous to the state).

I really like the dumerils, I love their patterns, the bloods are gorgeous, and I also love the BRBs, but I think their husbandry requirements would be difficult to maintain. I didn't used to like the boas, but the BCI's are starting to grow on me, and their smaller size (compared to the BCC - gosh I hope I don't have them backwards) is appealing.

    TORTURE I say, madam!

Painted inito a corner like this I am going to have to go with brongersmai - though i admit I'd love a nice Argentine and scrubs are nice too . . . .

Re: Other than the obvious, what's your favorite snake?

Weelllll....if I have to pick a favorite besides BP's that I actually have in my collection, I guess I'll have to go with a cape gopher, although it's a really tough choice! LOL

Seriously, though...picking a favorite species of snake would be impossible for me. That's like asking me which of my three kids is my favorite! LOL

EDIT: Do the words "gopher, although" look underlined to you? That line popped up while I was typing the words. I tried to use the U button to toggle the line on and off, but it wouldn't go away. Vewwwwy strange!

EDIT 2: Ok...all fixed. Musta somehow bumped into the URL button while typing. I'm such a goof!

Yeah I see the underline. Somehow you got it hyperlinked, but you should be able to delete that. (I think)

As for favorite species other than ball pythons.... Huh.... I dunno. I love the BRB and the Spotteds. I love the look of bloods and burmese too. Nope, can't narrow it down.

I think so! I don't know if most of them can be classified as "real" snakes though.

I would have to say other than BPs my favorite snake would have to be Python breitensteini.

i love carpet pythons (all of them!). they have a good size, disposition, feeding response, and just look great. i also love Antaresia (especially spotteds and stimson's)... besides they feeding problems when they're young, they're awesome to work with.

Re: Other than the obvious, what's your favorite snake?

    P. brongersmai.. though P. curtus curtus (sumatran short tails) are soooo super cool.

It's a very, very difficult decision. That's why I currently keep 14 species.

It's hard to beat a good suriname BCC.. though like Smulkin, occidentalis (argentine) boas make me drool. Barneck scrubs are wicked looking too.

And then there's savu pythons with their awesome white eyes.. burms with their lovely temperaments.. dumerils with their cryptic patterns.. albino tangerine honduran milks with their outrageous oranges..

I love my anacondas too.. they have a subtle beauty about them.

I guess sumatran red bloods are my favorites though.. I think.

Other than ball pythons (my favorite), I'd have to go with <i>boa constrictor imperator</i>.
    --Kenny

1.0 - normal ball python "Allister"
1.0 - boa constrictor imperator "Seymour"
1.1 - feral cats "Dante" and "Marzipan"
