Fasting...ugh
Well, I never dropped the temps this years (since I was in the process of moving and decided to skip breeding this season) but my two biggest males have decided to fast anyway. They are both at 2 months right now. Can anyone beat it!?
Even though I am used to the occasional fast, its still exasperating.

Sorry to hear that! Yup, I can beat that! Kashmire fasted for 4 1/2 months before starting to feed again on February 4th. Although it was frustrating for me, it didn't bother him at all. He maintained good weight and muscle tone.
I did stop handling him during that time, except for weekly weighing and routine cage maintenance (if I needed to move him out of my way to another part of his enclosure) and I filled his enclosure with loosely balled newspaper and just offered once a week. One week he just decided it was time to eat again!
Hang in there!

Hehehe~ I can beat that, but I dont know if it is by far the longest. My female fasted for 10 1/2 months. We quit handling her and everything during this time, we tried to feed all during this time, but no luck. This was the yr. before last. She has not done this again so far.

Re: Fasting...ugh
As of tonight we are going on 67 days this time.
He could have cared less when I dropped the mouse in there.
Last winter it was close to 16 weeks.
I hate this time of year.

And I was going bonkers over a week (didn't eat 2 weeks prior before he was shipped)? Then 2 days ago BAM, BAM, two in one sitting. I know my day will come but don't look forward to it. How do you folks deal with it? I know they can fast for what seems like an eternity but I would worry myself to death....

After you go thru the first fast and they finally eat I think you can handle the next one better. At least that's they case for me.

Re: Fasting...ugh
My skinny little cape gopher went for four months without eating. But he hasn't done that this year. Snakes are amazing creatures to be able to go so long without eating and still be healthy!

Re: Fasting...ugh
Saoirse last ate mid October...each week...nada. However she's not losing weight and is acting just fine when we do handle her. She just seems uninterested in eating but since she seems healthy otherwise and she is a WC adult female we aren't particularily worried. If she loses any significant weight or spring comes and she's still refusing...then I'll fret.

i can beat it. 5 months for zulu, but hes been off and on for the last two. he's eaten about 4 times since september 28. he ate 2 times in a row two weeks ago but didnt eat today and last week (last week because he was in opaque stage).
it is very stressful on me, lol. im glad vanessa eats she's only skipped about 3-4 meals this whole season, but not even in a row.

One of my males has been fasting since the beginning of october. When I first got him he went 10 months without eating. But most of the others are eating.
