    Great Vet Visit

I took all my balls to the vet today and had them all probed. They originally said it would cost me $20, but they only charged me $15. Adam did a very good job of teaching me to pop my snakes. Here come the results.

Salina, my first snake popped and probed as a female.

Baby, popped and probed as a male.

Scar, popped as a female and probed as a male. I think Scar popped as a female becuase he is older and has a lot more muscle control.

There really aren't a lot of snakes around here. I know this because the vet brought out a book to refresh her memory, they also brought all the clinic staff in to watch the procedures. They did not know about popping so I got to teach the vet a little something, which is always nice. After she probed all the snakes, she helped me probe Baby and Salina so I had an idea of what I was doing. They were very impressed with our snake knowledge in general.

Kudos to two people from the forum who helped me out with this.
Adam for teaching me, and answering all my questions, Matt for selling me the probes at a good price. I want to pop and probe my little corn, but he is so small and fragile that I am afraid I will break him.

It's nice to know what you have, isn't it?

Popping baby colubrids (such as corns) is quite easy. Very little pressure is required to evert whatever's in there. You'll probably get musked though!

Yes it is nice. I am also kind of disappointed. I was going to breed Scar this winter if I could get her weight up and try my hand at a single clutch and then give them all away on here for those I couldn't keep. Scar is a male so I will have to wait a while before I try my hand at breeding. I would really like to learn more about the breeding aspect right now though. I see this as my own business when I retire from the service in 8 yrs. I am really loving this.
