First shed is 99% perfect! Yay!

Cleo has been hiding out in her warm side hide for several days, looking fairly grumpy with her old, icky skin. Today we noted that her eyes were perfectly clear and the scales on her nose were looking particularly dry, so we hoped to see her shed within the next day or so...

Well, while we were watching a movie, guess who had a nearly perfect shed! Yay! There is a tiny bit left on her tail, maybe 1/8". I tried to gently pry it off, but it didn't come off. I'm guessing we should just let it be...?

Here's a photo after I unrolled the skin - eyecaps are off!

So of course we had to take some pictures of the beauty queen...here she is with Rick:

And me (we had some cute ones when she was trying to climb on top of my head, but they're not in focus =P):

I'm not the best at color adjustment, so her belly looks much pinker than it really is...she's altogether lighter than before, especially her head and just behind her head:

"Hey, Daddy, what are you doing?!" (Sorry it's so washed out and out of focus, but we just thought it was too cute!)

FSSS is over! =D Now onto FPSS...or first real poop stress syndrome, since she did give us 2 tiny poops right when we brought her home.

    Nice pics....

ha ha...it is so crazy when I think back to when I worried about sheds and poops....I am glad I grew out of that...way too much unneeded worrry ......but then when you get into morphs it is a whole different story....try worrying about a critter that costs $1000 ...i don't know how the people with $25,000+ ball pythons do it....

Congrats on the shed! If that piece that's left encircles her tail you probably should get it off. Just try a nice warm (not hot) rough facecloth to loosen it and very gently rub it away. If it's really stuck you can always soak her then it should come right off. Becky was just telling me about tail damage that can happen with encircling sheds on the tail tips so I thought I'd mention it to you.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking. I was reading somewhere (Joe Compel's site maybe?) that you do need to get the last bit off the tail...if it's not off today or tomorrow, we'll try a damp warm washcloth...Thanks Jo!
