HAH! Mother rat was occluded by her thronging pups!

Overwhelming odds, I'd say. It's insane how big litter sizes can sometimes be (or even get).

Did she "adopt" any of those or are those all hers?

Both of those mothers are in the same tub. The babies just kinda go back and forth between them. Earlier today the black rat had almost all the babies over on her, all you could see was her head!!! LOL. When I got back with the camera this is how they were.

You know sometimes I almost think they are thankful for being able to share the load like that - the one off duty will be sacked out flat on the far side until shift change etc.
