new girl has a weird tongue....????
JUst a got a new girl this past Thurs, which will make our BP collection a total of 6. She is still in quarantine, but otherwise no mites, eats, poops, great weight, and a gentile disposition. She does however, have this weird thing goin' on with her tongue....She can flick it ok, but it only comes out about a 1/2 inch or so. This is really short compared to the rest of my balls. I checked her mouth, but didn't see anything wrong. Is it possible she just has a short tongue and is this a normal occurrence? Please help...I'm worried.

Re: new girl has a weird tongue....????
I don't have a lick of expertise to back up my thoughts, just so ya know.
But it seems to me if the snake is in all other ways perfectly healthy, I wouldn't worry about it at all. A short tongue doesn't seem to affect her ability to "hunt" or eat, and I can't imagine any other reason it could cause her problems.
About the only thing I would be remotely concerned about is future breeding. If she has a genetal defect that causes her tongue to be too short, I would not want to risk passing that on and perhaps exaggerating the problem in offspring.

Could be a tongue sheathe infection or a damaged tongue / tongue sheathe from a prior case of mouth rot.
Just two of the things that I've experienced in the realm of "shortened tongues".
