    Where do mites come from?

I was just wondering how the snake get mites? I feed frozen mice, so I don't think they could survive on them. Was just wondering.

Mites come from eggs. I don't think your snake got mites from frozen rodents, but possibly from contaminated bedding or other snakes. It's possible the eggs were snake to begin with.

Usually they are on wild-caught specimens. Then the WCs get to the pet store and the mites can infect other snakes that are in the store. You generally can be sure that, if you get any age BP and it has ticks/mites, it was WC (or at least in close proximity to WCs.)

Wild caught has nothing to do with mites. The snake mite is not native to West Africe where ball pythons come from. It's ture that ticks are common on wild caught animals, but mites come from nasty captive collections and are just as likely to be found on captive bred animals as wild caughts.

    Hope this helps.
