    When to feed again

Ok I tried to feed my ball on Friday and it just killed the mouse and left it. Well yesterday I found out it has ticks/mites that I didnt know about. How long do I wait to feed my ball again since it has the ticks/mites or does that not come into effect?

    Re: When to feed again

First you need to treat for the mites and ticks. Very important. Get some Provent a Mite ASAP!! I'd just wait until you have the mites under control, and at earliest offer next Friday. Offering food too often will stress them out and it's not necessary. He'll be fine til then.

    Re: When to feed again

Just a word of caution. Provent-a-Mite is the recommended treatment but I've read it has very specific instructions about it's safe usage. I can't advise you of them as I haven't had any mites in my collection so I don't have direct experience. I would suggest you ask here on the forum or directly by email to the manufacturer so you get the exact instructions on it's usage.

As far as feeding, I completely agree with Christie that you don't even need to worry about that right now until you've dealt with the immediate problem of mites/ticks on this snake.

    Re: When to feed again

I didnt plan on feeding him till its treated and all cleared up but I was just wondeirng if I had to wait any time after that. I provent a mite on order so it should be here soon.....I know when we got it it had to adjust before feeding and such so I was just wondering if there was a waiting time after mites

    Re: When to feed again

I saw the ticks because one was in the waterbowl when I went to clean it out and give fresh water....looks like it has one more on him but I cannt tell and Im a lil freaked about pulling it off cuz I dont know if it will bite. The mites I'm not sure I "saw" but when I dumped its bedding there were a few dark specks that werent moving or anything but it was under hte water bowl and wet in the area.

Bleh. Doesn't it give you the creepy crawlies just thinking about the little nasty boogers. I would think once you treat with the Provent a Mite, wait a couple days to a week. See if there are any specifics on the spray itself too.
