Question Best way to move with a new ball

I just got my ball python 6 days ago and just now found out that I am going to be moving in a week or so. How do I make the move the eaisest on him? I know hes already stressed from just adjusting to a new place right now but I dont want to make it even worse then I have to. The ball is in a sterilite container so can I just move him in that or should I move him in something diff. It's only like a 15 min drive to the new place

Re: Best way to move with a new ball

Well, it may be a stressful day, but he'll get over it. Focus on keeping him safe and making sure his new home is all set up. I know we want to pamper and baby them all the time, but really, he'll be fine. :-)

I've moved cross country twice with a snake and a lizard. (From VA to AL and then from AL to AZ.) While I'm sure neither of them enjoyed it all that much, especially the lizard who is used to a lot more freedom and movement, they both did just fine.

You could put him in a pillowcase and then put the pillowcase in a shoe-box sized sterelite (or whatever is sized appropriate for your friend). Make sure the bag is tied off securely AND the lid of the box is secure. (And make sure there are air holes in the box!) That is probably the least stressful way to move him, while keeping him safe from escape.

I would suggest the possibility of moving him while he's still in his permanent home, since it's only such a short drive for you, but two things would make me hesitate: One...I wouldn't want him to think a sustained earthquake is a normal part of his home environment. And more importantly, I wouldn't want him flung around inside a relatively large container if the car should come to an abrupt stop.

Bah...I ramble a lot! Hope it helps some...

    Judy
