correct me if I'm wrong but....
So I've done extensive reading and as far as I can tell there is no disagreement that the hot side of the enclosure should be 92-95 degrees, and the cool side should be 82-85.
Now correct me if I'm wrong, but in order to adhere to those numbers so precicely, I would need 2 UTHs and 2 thermostats (one on each side of the enclosure).

You're absolutely correct. 2 pieces of flexwatt with two thermostats is perfect!

Re: correct me if I'm wrong but....
It also depends on what your ambient temps are in the room you're keeping it in. What kind of enclosure are you housing in?
I heat my herp room to 80 degrees, and with a heat tape temp of 102, I get a hot side temp of 93, and a cool side that ranges from 81-84... this is with one row of 4" heat tape, and one thermostat. I also have a fan setup in my herp room that prevents the stratification of temps.

Re: correct me if I'm wrong but....
every room and every cage/tank/tub or rack setup can be different. that's why thermostats and thermometers are needed to check and get things right.
the ambient temp in the area/room the snakes are in are vital to how and what you heat with. i'm a big fan of keeping the temps and humidity in my room stable this keeps everything right. i know not everyone has a spare room, but the same can be done with any area you keep your herps in. a small space heater and a small humidifier can help alot with ambient and cool side temps and the dry air of winter.

Yeah, if you're crazy enough to have a herp room, might as well have a space heater. I do, so I only need one piece of flexwatt for each enclosure.

This is my Big Goal in life at the moment - and should be happening later this year when we get an extension because our youngest daughter's bedroom is too small - but it's PERFECT as a herp room

<hangs head> Yeah, I have plans in the works for another main herp room and an incubation room. (actually, I have plans for a bigger master bedroom, and turning our master bedroom and closet into a bigger herp room and closet for the incubator. )

Thats a good way to get support from the significant other ....."Honey, I am would like to build an addition so that we can have this huge bedroom...(mumbles)...and the old bedroom can be used for snakes"
Ha ha....I will have to remember that
