    Alright so i went and got a sterilite tub... 39.5" X 29.3" X 7" 66Qt.

What size heating pad will i need to maintain the right temps? My room is currently really warm but when its hot out the room is cold.

    Re: Heating pag

Usually it should cover 1/3 to 1/2 of the bottom of the tub.

Matt at MGReptiles should be able to help you. I gave him my dimensions and he suggested the size flexwatt I should get.

    Re: Heating pag

That tub would be ok with a 2 foot of 11" flexwatt..

    Re: Heating pad

kind of a dumb question but, do people just use flexwatt rather then a heatpad b/c of the cost being a lot cheaper?? Is either one safer than the other (both being hooked up with a rheostat)?

    "clicks link in sig" lol

    Re: Heating pad

Well with flexwatt your actually getting the exact same type of element that you woudl get if you bought an Exo-Terra or Cobra UTH.. They are all mad ein the same facility.. What your not paying for with flexwatt is the "brand".. They both do the exact same thing.. And I know you ment thermostat instead of a dimmer right

    Re: Heating pad

ya meant thermostat, and if I am using a light to heat guess i'd be using a rheostat!
