    Soooo Frustrating!

I know I'm preaching to the choir here, but I needed to say this.

I can't stand it that there is no one that I know in my daily life (co-workers, friends, boyfriend) that I can share my excitement over ball pythons with.

I'm so excited about my three girls coming at the end of the month, and I finalized some future plans last night for some hets and was giddy.

NO ONE to talk to about it. Practically attacked my boyfriend when he got home last night, and I get a blank stare. Bless his heart, he loves me and supports me, but he just doesn't get it and certainly doesn't have the passion that I have.

Get to work and tell a couple co-workers and they just shake their heads and walk away.

They don't get me, and I don't get why EVERYONE isn't falling in love with balls!

Oh well, I'm so glad I have you guys. I just wish I had someone in my immediate circle that I could go "eeeeeeekkkkkkkk!!!!!!!" with, when something cool happens, like finalizing a deal on some hets. Makes the dream seem that much closer.

    Re: Soooo Frustrating!

I'm pretty lucky to have a couple people at work that keep reptiles of one type or another. I have one friend with a Bearded Dragon, and another with several herps of different types (Jewel-Tailed Lizards, a Tegu, a turtle, and a few others). Neither of them seem to be as addicted as I am - they don't plan on breeding at all, nor do they have any plans for a large enough collection to dedicate an entire portion of the home to. They do share my excitement for the most part with respect to herps, and it's nice to have somebody to B.S. with during slow periods of the day about them.

oh oh oh!! Member of choir, right here!! *waving hand in the air*

I really don't have anyone to talk snakes with, except my sister and she lives 15 hours away! I'm still in the throws of a major bp addiction, and very few people let me vent!! Why don't they understand? Bps are so cool! (You think there's something wrong with us? My husband keeps telling me I'm not normal - oh well ) Don't you hate that look some people get, when you tell them about your snakes and you can see them freeze up and take a step back as if you were contagious? GAH! I'm not that weird, sheesh! *sigh*

My name is Christie and I'm addicted to ball pythons. :

I think most people humor me. They all are convinced my balls are going to one day kill me (except for Karl who now understands that they aren't going to become "monster sized" snakes!)

Do I think there's something wrong with us? Nah! I think there's something wrong with everyone else!

Yeah, sometimes I hate defending ball pythons to those that just haven't been infected with this incurable illness of "ball pythonism"! LOL

    Re: Soooo Frustrating!

I feel your pain, though I'm not as bad off as some of you!

I don't know anyone else (in person anyway, of course there's you guys) that is even close to being as addicted to snakes as I am.

At work, my manager is TERRIFIED of snakes. I was so proud of her when she touched my roughscaled sand boa when I brought her to work one day. My manager was hyperventilating and everything though.

Most of the girls at work like the snakes and enjoy handling them, but they don't understand me wanting to have 21 of the things! The one guy that works in the groom shop is scared of them and threatens to rip one in half if it bit him! Sissy boy we all call him.

There's a few girls that work in the specialty department (I work at Petsmart) that do understand me! One girl in particular is an animal addict, and she wants to have a snake soon. She has seven ferrets, 15 turtles, fish tanks everywhere, rats, mice, and who knows what else.

But mostly people think I'm nuts and someone to be afraid of when I tell them I have 21 snakes.

    Re: Soooo Frustrating!

Do you guys ever get the question about why you let your husband/significant other have a snake? Some people don't even consider, that I as a female, would want a snake. No they don't belong to my husband. THEY ARE MINE!! Gah!

I'm glad it's not just me. It's so nice being able to vent here! You guys are just great!

    Re: Soooo Frustrating!

I feel the same way. I am glad we have this forum, because I have no one else to discuss my love for snakes with. My wife humors me, and that is about as far as it goes.

    Re: Soooo Frustrating!

UGH! Just to add onto this, just NOW I was introduced to someone from another office. He was all nice and polite to me.

Then I had to step away from my desk for a moment, so I locked my computer. My wallpaper is Kiah, one of the new girls I'm getting.

When I came back to my desk, he had a painful look on his face as he asked "is THAT your pet?"

I said "She will be at the end of the month, isn't she pretty?!!!"

He looked at me, shook his head and said "you're weird, there is nothing pretty about a snake" and walked away! Some people!

I sooo feel the same - I'm lucky in a way as I've got 2 really great reptile selling guys who love their snakes and one of whom collects for rescues - and of course all you guys here I really don't know what I'd do without this forum.

At least your b/f doesn't mind - my husband hates them - has always hated them - I'm not allowed any more (yet ... )

Get to work and tell a couple co-workers and they just shake their heads and walk away.

With one exception mine shriek and yell "Don't you dare!" if I offer to bring them in "to show" one day.

They don't get me, and I don't get why EVERYONE isn't falling in love with balls!

I know - some people are so sad

Oh well, I'm so glad I have you guys.

    Re: Soooo Frustrating!

Hahaha! People find out the hubby and I have a snake in the house, and they automatically assume it's his. I guess they just think he's more of a "snake-type" person or something, because of his freaky looks?? Then they find out it's mine and they're shocked and confused.
