    Having Humidity problem

    Greetings:

I am having a bit of a humidity regulation problem. I am located in N/ Central Fl, and of course it is winter, therefore, the air is more dry. My humidity is dropping way low, like 35 and 40 percent, and It is driving me crazy. I am misting my tank several times a day and it helps for a bit but before long it goes right back down. I was using aspin for substrate, however have resently switched to mulch, not cyprus, but mulch. It seems to hold the humidity a bit better, however, Not good enough. I have added several water bowls, and only utilize uth, no lights. Any suggestions? By the way I have a long 50 gal tank with a screen top. Thaught about trying covering the top a bit to help hold the moisture, but I am a bit stumped at the moment.

    All assistance is appreciated.

    Thanks
    Ray

    Re: Having Humidity problem

i think covering one half of your tank will help... are you at all interested in moving your snake to a rubbermaid type of container? they hold humidity much better than a tank. also adding a water dish to your 'warm side' will raise the humidity as well... as it will help to evaporate the water

I had this problem in my wooden viv when I first started up so added the humid hide in the corner under my CHE and the humidity shot up.

    Re: Having Humidity problem

Thanks for the insite, As far as the rubermade contaner goes, I understand that they may function a bit better, however, I like the look of my tank. It took me a bit longer to get my temps just right, however, I know have that under control. I will try covering the screen top with either plastic, or glass. If nothing else, I will make a different top for it. Thanks again for the advise.

    Re: Having Humidity problem

    Hello!
I have 2 balls in a 55 gallon with the same problem as you. I have several water dishes in the tank, and found that placing the water under my light source only makes the humidity worse. Also, I found that putting something over most of the tank didn't make a difference. I use the lizard litter stuff that you get from a pet store (can't really get anything else in CT, and if you know of something I can, please let me know! That stuffs expensive....) which holds moisture pretty well. I spray the tank every day just to relieve the dryness, but I think I may try this homemade humidifier. Does anyone know if this is loud? Thank you

Uh oh. You know you shouldn't do this right? Do a search. Keeping snakes together is not a good thing.

Yep, just found that out. Have a whole thread started because of it. The sad part is that I was given the snakes FIVE freakin' years ago, and have had them together ever since.

I did all sorts of reading, and somehow never caught onto that particular piece of information. But lucky for me, all you guys are SOOOO nice and understanding
