    Hide boxes

Does anybody know where can I get good hide boxes, with the hole on top, I saw very good ones at animal plastics, but they are pretty expensive

Most manufactured hides are kinda pricey....

Why not make your own? I use old butter tubs and stuff from around the house. Many people use pot dishes.

    Re: Hide boxes

I have 21 snakes and haven't bought a single manufactured hide box. I use everything from washed trays from tv dinners and take out to plastic potted plant bases, to a 22 gallon plastic trash can cut in half longways to make two hides for my 7' dumerils boa.

    Re: Hide boxes

small kitty litter pans with a hole in the top are good. for smaller snakes i use plastic flower pot saucers or bottoms with a hole cut in the top also.

Ah yes I forgot the kitty litter pans. You can either cut a hole in the top or the side. I always do the side, but it's just my personal preference.

    Re: Hide boxes

I use ESU creature cubbyholes... they're fairly cheap... but as others have said, not anywhere near as cheap as the free kind that you can use from leftover containers you have around the house. Here's a pic and where you can buy 'em (they have other sizes too) http://www.herpsupplies.com/product.cfm?id=SCL00267

I also use upsidedown plant trays (plastic)

Reptiletubs.com also has some good hides for cheap. His biggest ones are seven bucks, and perfect for a full-grown adult BP.

    Re: Hide boxes

I make a little adjustable box out of Pepsi/Coke fridge packs. Punch out the little nifty spout where the pop comes out. Cut the box in half where the hand holder thing is. Then cut the bottom out of the half where the spout is. Put that part on top of the other and voila! Instant box that can be resized to grow with your snake. Plus their easy to throw out if soiled

I really just wanted to show everyone that. I love these things! Good if you drink lots of pop/water.
