Burns, sick, or pre shed?

I just got back from a few days trip and found my bp soaking in his waterbowl (which ive never seen him do before) and appearing a little tinted red/brownish. His warm side temps were also up to 97f (usually theyre at 89-90f) so that’s why i think he might’ve gotten burned or overheated?
He’s also going to shed soon (white eyes) so then I started thinking it might just be pre shed
Please let me know what you think, thank you. He’s usually bright white

Hard to say, but yeah 97F is quite hot. The heat may have induced a shed before it was really time. What are you using as a heat element? If it's under tank heating, it's probably a shed but you should still watch carefully for dehydration because of that high heat. If it's overhead, it's possible he got burned. Is his underside the same tint of pink?

Re: Burns, sick, or pre shed?
I use over and undertank heating because when I’d only use one it wouldn’t get warm enough, usually theyre perfect together but my house’s AC hasn’t been working properly lately (getting too hot). I should’ve thought about how it’d affect him before I left everything unsupervised for a couple days.
I think theyre the same shade, but I’d have to look again tomorrow (would rather not take him out again to avoid stressing him out rn)
If they are burns, will they heal easily? Or how do I deal with those?

Other reply above, but I’d also like to mention that it was about time for his next shed aswell if that’s any help

Burns can get pretty serious and sometimes it's hard to tell right away how serious they are. Secondary infection is a big problem. The photo makes it look a little pinker than pre-shed, but photos and screen settings can make it very difficult to really know the accuracy of colors.
See https://ball-pythons.net/forums/show...-advice-please for some information about finding a vet and a few treatment suggestions. If it were me and I just wasn't sure, I'd be very carefully watching for wrinkles for dehydration, and for blisters, and get him in to the vet ASAP if I saw either of those. In the meantime, I'd replace substrate for something more sterile like paper towels to cut down on infection chance and replace it immediately when soiled, using something to clean the enclosure each time as well. I use f10 to clean my enclosures, not sure if you have that or similar on hand. A soak is going to help him whether its a shed or burn, so maybe do a soak with very diluted betadine.

Alright, thank you. I checked on him today and he seems less pink, I’m thinking the pinkness was either from getting too hot or because he had squeezed himself inside of his bowl/smaller hide. His eyes are more milky too

My pied girl is very high white, she turns a crazy shade of pink like yours when she goes into shed. She pretty much turns 'salmon' instead of 'blue'. I'm hoping that's all this is
That said.... burn is still possible so do make sure she's hydrated to help with the shed and the temps are correct. Nikkubus is correct about burns being hard to judge at first. The real damage isn't apparent until after they shed. When they burn they go into a shed cycle almost immediately and the tissue can take that bit of time to die off and slough with the shed skin.
After the shed is going to be when you get the answer, but do try to keep an eye for the next 2 weeks at least just in case.
