    Ball python scratch on head

So a few days ago it was feeding time and I did what I always do and put in the live rat for my BP (never any issues) always closely monitored it did the usual, protected my BP if the rat did anything and I take out the rat to try again if it doesn’t eat it in 30 mins or so but it’s not really important what is is the fact that one of the rats fell caddy-Wompus and it did an awkward free fall instead of me placing it in and it scratched my boy on the head on the way down I can’t figure out how to post pics but it’s looking a lot like a scab like the kind we we get so I was wondering if I kept a very close eye on it would he heal it himself or am I a horrible person and should just take him to a vet asap

    1. Order some Vetericyn
    2. Use a Q-tip to clean the wound with diluted betadine (1:10) daily until your Vetericyn arrives
    3. Treat with Vetericyn according to the directions
    4. If, at any time, his condition worsens, take him to a vet.

As long as it's just plain betadine (no pain-killing additives or such), it should be fine.

Betadine is more expensive (brand name), you can also buy generic "povidone-iodine". Same thing.

Basically you want it to look like weak tea. Just don't drink it...
