    Exo Terra 40 gallon

Does anyone know of any replacement lids I can get for a 40 gallon exo terra? It’s kind of an awkward size about 35” by 18”
I don’t want my top because it has the plastic cross beams on top and I want to lay a dome with CHE on it.
If you have clip/clamp suggestions to go with it too that’d be great.

Picture attached for reference of which tank I have.

    Thank you!!!

I have the same exoterra and when I started looking for replacements the only decent looking one I could find was focused cubed habitats.

Now I haven't bought this because it's kinda expensive so I don't know the quality or if it would work for your situation but it's a PVC top with a stainless screen so it sounds better than the exoterra screen. Again not sure if this helps but at least it's an option.

Could a "handyman" make one for you?

No idea. But places like lowes/home depot sell frame kits and plastic mesh that can be made into a DIY screen top.

I know, & personally, I'd try it or at least research it further- how hard can it be? -though I'm not personally familiar with Exo Terra's.

I already build my own screen tops & have for many years- they're not hard at all. (I'm a glass tank user & mostly a colubrid-keeper.)

I'd look to avoid that "plastic mesh" type of screen though; for this purpose, the OP needs sturdier metal mesh, & preferably not a plastic frame- IMO.

But if these (Exo Terra) are essentially made like window screens & the OP doesn't want to tackle the job, I'd just contact a place that makes window screens.

In the dart frog hobby, keepers get glass cut (tempered is highly recommended; I like at least 3/16" on a 36" span, though 1/4" wouldn't be overkill), and if you want to keep some top ventilation you get the glass cut a bit short on the back and make a screen insert from the screen kits that @trinityblood mentioned. Note that the screen kit frame eats up more than an inch, so if you want 3" of screen, you'll need at least a 4" short cut.

If you get glass cut, make sure to accommodate the little bump-outs in the recess that the cover fits in. A glass shop should be able to make those indentations for you. I've had glass cut locally, and also ordered it in from One Day Glass.
