OK. I'm going to be building a cage for my bp, and was wondering how this sounds.
I'm planning on using wood (I've read the pros and cons for wood) with a formica (laminated plastic) lining on the interior that is sealed with fish tank silicone. The door is going to be sliding glass. The dimensions are going to be 36"W 18"D 16"H. How I'm going to heat it is still TBD. I would rather not use bulbs or CHE's. I was thinking FlexWatt would be the best choise, but have a few questions. I was thinking I would use two pieces that measure 11"X12", one on the warm end, and one on the cool end. From what I have read, it sounds OK to put the flexwatt directly on the wood floor, then lay the formica directly on top of the flexwatt as long as I use a dimmer and thermostat to control how warm the flexwatt gets. Do I want to measure the temp. of the substrate if using flexwatt, or the temp about an inch above the substrate? Will I have to run the flexwatt at too high a temp. to be safe on wood? How long does flexwatt last? My house temperatures stay at about 70-72 in the winter, and in the summer could reach as high as 85, so the cool side flexwatt would be seasonal.
Any suggestions would be great.
