Say hello to my stinky friend...
Eww. Got up this morning and walked by Hidaya's cage and my nose wrinkled. Looked in there and not only did he rearrange his stuff (as is becomeing a nightly habit) but he also left nasty little present with fur sticking out of it. I was beging to worry as it's been almost two weeks and still no poo.
Shelby, your right, python poo looks and smells like poo. And then some. uck. I am soooooo glad this animal is not going to do that once or twice a day.
On another note, I got him a couple mice on Sunday (I wanted a rat fuzzy but the place didn't have any). Again no problems with feeding, he seems quite the greedy little piggy. But, while I was at the store getting dinner I looked at the snakes they had. One was a larger BP (larger then mine I mean), probably about 3'-3 1/2'. He didn't look so good, had a stuck shead on him from snout to tail, but the sides and bottom of him had come off. He looked pretty dry and unhappy. I restrained myself though, mostly because I didn't want to bring a possible unhealthy snake home that might give something to Hidaya. Poor guy, they had all the cute baby's for sale for like $80 and he was $50. I did ask about him though and found out he was a rescue.

Just be glad you aren't cleaning up after a slightly over 6 foot BCI LOL. Thank goodness Rauri doesn't "go" every day!

I've never been able to distinguish fur in the poo. (not to say that it's impossible) Are you sure it wasn't a regurg? That would reek as well. Just want to make sure that it is coming from the correct end. Speaking of which I've got a cage to clean myself.

I have made out fur in my snakes poo from time to time. Definitely not pretty, but then again it is poo!

Re: Say hello to my stinky friend...
Most of my snakes have fur in their poo.. completely normal. A regurge is completely different.
I've had my dumerils nearly two months and still no poo. Silly girl.
Sad thing is.. I can usually tell who left a poo by how it smells.. the boa poo smells different from the kingsnake poo..

Re: Say hello to my stinky friend...
be glad you have neat snake poops that you can pick up. one of my girls insists on smearing it all over her cage, through her water bowl, in and around her hides and everywhere every single time she goes. there is no such thing as spot cleaning with her. it's all out disinfection of everything every time and she usually requires a wipe down as well. fun stuff there!

Re: Say hello to my stinky friend...
I'm fairly certain it wasn't a regurge, I mean it still looked like poo, just with furry tuffts. Charming. I'm still using paper towel as substrait and he pooped all under it so I had to take everything out and wipe everything out with hot water and I used that dishsoap with bleach, then a good rinse and that was more or less just to get rid of not only the physical evidance but the smell. Pew!
I think he crawled through it too cuz he stunk as well. I put him in an inch of warmish water for a bit and dried him off as well, again just to get rid of the smell. What's funny is he looked rather disgusted with himself, he also looked like he was having fun in the water, I though he'd freak out a bit but nope, he didn't even try and get out of the sink.
It wasn't quite 48 hours from his feeding, more like 38, but I just couldn't see letting him stink in his cleaned cage.
