Why Are Tanks Hard to Find?

There was only one at the pet store. I'm tempted to go back and just buy it even though I'm staying at a hotel. (I'm waiting to get hired so my application for the apartment can get approved.) I know the hotel staff will look at me weird for bringing in a terrarium but at least I'll be ready to bring the snake home once my apartment gets approved.

Have you tried Craigslist or Letgo? I know I've seen plenty on those two at a fraction of a price.

I'd HIGHLY recommend to settle in your new apartment before bringing a pet into the mix. With that said, if you do decide to still go through with it, check with the hotel that you're staying in to make sure they allow reptiles. The last thing you want is to get kicked out.

If the snake is on hold at a big box or store you're better off waiting and buying from a reputable breeder. This way you know you're getting a healthy animal.

I'd also make sure you're settled into your new apartment.

You also want to have your enclosure and all equipment up and running and dialed in before bringing the animal home.
Make sure your heating equipment is working and properly regulated by a thermostat. Without a thermostat you're risking serious burns, neurological damage or even death to your new pet. Make sure temps and humidity are dialed in.

Agreed also so many chances to damage your new tank during the moving process.

Or you might get lucky and find a nice reptile enclosure on CL. They do pop up for sale occasionally.

Very true. I'm always looking. When they pop up they typically don't last long unless they're beat up and gross.

If you do go with a second hand enclosure be sure to wash and sanitize it thoroughly and air out before using it. Even it it looks spotless, you never know.
