    New CHE making noise

I just got a new CHE, a different brand than I'd used before. I hooked it up to the thermostat and everything is good, but when I turned it on, I heard a clicking/ticking/cracking sound.

I asked my electrician friend and he said it's probably harmless, just the bulb expanding as it heats up. So I turned it back on and it hasn't made any noise since (about an hour ago).

I've never heard a CHE make noise before, but it also turns out I was using a not-super-great brand (exoterra), which is why I got a different one. Have any of you ever experienced this with a new CHE? Have you ever had one that made noise when you first turned it on?

My new ones always do that. Even give off a little bit of a chemical burning smell. They stop doing that eventually.

Okay thank freaking gawd. I'm familiar with the odd smell, but never had one make noise before, and it freaked me out. Thank you!
