Will my 7-8 month ball python male scent?

My ball python keeps on slowly moving his tail back and forth. He moves while he is doing it as well. Is he trying to go to the bathroom or scenting? He shouldn’t be sexually mature yet, so I didn’t think that would be it.

The only time I really see this happening is when they’re being defensive. I’ve seen my bp do it the first time I got her. She was being defensive/scared and I noticed her tail moving back and forth as if she was trying to rattle it. For some reason she thinks she’s a rattlesnake(lol).

He does it slow though, and kind of pushes his muscles back a little bit.
