Help! Is my Ball Python still hungry

I got my BP just over a month ago, I had a bit of trial and error getting his tank set up as his prior owners didn’t have it done correctly. I finally have it set up based off of a sticky thread I saw.

He hadn’t eaten for 2 months prior but last night I finally got him to eat a small rat in his tank. I tried feeding him in his tank for the first time instead of in a separate container like I was prior. At last weight he was roughly 17oz but that could be very incorrect.

He ate fine and no signs of regurgitation as of tonight. It been exactly 24 hours since I fed him and I’ve noticed he’s actually out of his typical hide and lounging on the cool side partially on top of his rough tree branch hide perched up a bit looking at the top of the tank.

This is my first time owning a snake, is he just digesting or is he searching for more food? I have large mice I can offer him if you guys think I should. From what I’ve noticed about his behaviors, he typically doesn’t lounge out of his hides or out from under his substrate.

Since he finally ate (yay!), his feeding response is sparked, and he may well be looking for another snack. However, that doesn't mean he should be fed - just wait for his normal feeding time next week to offer another meal. You definitely don't want to push your luck with him and cause a regurg.

I'm glad he ate for you. I agree with Caitlin and would wait until his next feeding day to offer food again.
