Using thermostat with a small uth

I’m having issues with the probe from the thermostat not letting enough on the uth heater to make contact with the bottom of the tank. Other than stepping up to a larger uth is there any tips I can try? Thanks.

A picture might help us be more specific, but you can tape the probe to the bottom of the UTH. If it is a Zoomed (I only have experience with these) they get uniformly warm so you can tape it securely to the bottom of the pad, making sure the tape won't peel off and then dial in your temperature without your animal inside. It's just important to make sure your tape won't fail doing it this way.

I will post a picture after I get home from work today. The uth is the Zoo Med brand. I have the probe between the glass on the heater itself but it the 10 gallon uth and I think that’s where I’m messing up. Looks like the uth is just too small. The way I set it up this morning was to move my snakes hid to where it is over the end where the uth has more coverage. Thanks for the advice.
