Ball Python has one cloudy eye
I got my girl about 2 weeks ago and she was already in blue when I got her. After she first shed with me, I checked for any stuck shed or eye caps, looked okay to me. After about 4 days, one of her eyes looked cloudy. Is she possibly in blue again? Is it normal that only one of her eyes is cloudy? I have been feeding her bigger rodents and more frequently (every 5 days) because she seemed a little bit on the thin side due to the breeder feeding her very small mice.

My first thought was a retained eye cap to be honest but you say you don’t think it is that ?!?
Can you upload a close up photo or two ??

Snakes do not cloud up one eye at a time... I'd be willing to bet that she has one stuck eye cap, but when she shed, the one that's stuck (& now appears cloudy)
was damp, so it didn't appear cloudy until it dried out. Just a hunch: be very careful (GENTLE) about trying to remove stuck eye-caps...keep moist & wipe gently with
a terry towel, & if that doesn't work, maybe get vet help. The longer they stay on, the more trouble they are long-term.
Be careful about feeding larger rodents every 5 days...the bigger they are, the longer they take to digest AND the more you are likely to cause her to regurgitate, which
in some rare cases (where the snake aspirates into lungs) that can even kill a snake, but in any case, would be a set-back in terms of feeding & her health. After a
snake regurgitates a meal, it's best to wait 2-3 weeks so they have time to replenish their digestive enzymes...otherwise, it will just keep happening & a snake can also
die of dehydration from repeated regurgitations. Easy does it...ok?

Re: Ball Python has one cloudy eye
Thanks, I've been reading up quite a lot before purchasing her. There are only mice available in my area so ive just been feeding her larger mice, smaller that the biggest part of her even. Ill try to get the stuck eye cap out. Thanks for the advice.

Re: Ball Python has one cloudy eye
You can get a very damp , rough textured towel/cloth and wrap the snake up on it ( over your lap ) let the snake wriggle around inside .. when it’s head pops out simply recover it with the towel again ... the ‘trick’ is to keep applying very , very gentle pressure to the head region and normally the retained eye cap will come off on the towel/cloth .
This method works a treat for removing stubborn skin as well
