    Re: Showing off the Spurs!

I've been "flashed" by a couple of the snakes. Rather startling! Rude girls!

With the one snake, I have no clue why she did it, I was just holding her and rubbing her belly and there it was! The other was very upset at being soaked for retained shed so proceeded to pee on me, poop on me, flash her goods and then musk me. Some gratitude! LOL

Hmm "flashing" ? arent the spurs always clearly visible ? on Rebel my biggest ball python you can clearly see her spurs, and yes she is a female, actually right now she is currently breeding with a male so i know she is 100% female.

its not the spurs that are being exposed it is the parts that are normally kept inside the vent area. the first time my female did this i thought she was a male and was everting the hemipenis. look here for a thread about it with pics of the "flashing": http://www.ball-pythons.net/forums/s...ad.php?t=24889.

oh and mysticman22, if you really don't want to see it you should not look at that thread.

    Re: Showing off the Spurs!

I can always see the spurs on all my ball pythons, big and small, male and female. I guess when they evert, the spurs might be more visible as the muscles around the vent area contract (make sense?)

Saoirse, an adult female unknown if ever bred, everted under stress....Rionach, who was about 7 months at the time everted while being handled and was not stressing obviously (but could well have been stressed and I wasn't picking it up). I'm unsure if my stroking her lower belly area triggered it. In both cases it was extremely quick and I didn't even see as much as in Emily's picture of her snake.
