Humidity query
Hi everyone, I was hoping to receive some guidance from you? I am just wondering how everyone measures their humidity levels in a vivarium?
Currently I have two thermometers, one at each end of the Viv, one of the thermometers is closer to the heat lamp. The cool end of the tank is 65% and the warmer end of the tank is at 49% (at the moment). Do I spray or do I leave it? If I spray I risk increasing the humidity in the cool end, but obviously I don't want the hot end to be too dry.
Would appreciate all of your inputs!
Thanks!

Before we go any further .. what are you using thermometers or hygrometers or a hybrid of both ?
Also may I ask what type of thermometers are they ??
Like these maybe ?

Hi, I do actually have those but after reading they were really unreliable I bought these instead https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07JLGHF...p_mob_ap_share
I have one set up in the cool end and one set up in the warm end, relatively close to the ceramic heater thermostat sensor

Re: Humidity query
Well those are certainly better than those useless stick-on plastic ones BUT whilst the thermometers on them are fairly reliable I found the hygrometers to be less so ..
I got the exact same ones off eBay for 2 dollars each including postage soooooo the quality isn’t going to be great .
Rightly or wrongly I don’t pay too much attention to humidity and just spray the vivs daily .. and increase the spraying when in shed mode

Seriously, thank you! It's my first time owning a snake and I think I'm overthinking it a lot! I will mist daily and see how it goes. I've been reading so much that it's kind of turned my brain to mush, some people are saying mist to 80% and let it settle throughout the day, others are saying if the water bowl is close then don't bother. It's a minefield!

I just know that I’ve had snakes for years and they’re all lovely and healthy .. and the daily spray works .
The key time is mid way through the shedding process when the eyes go clear and they get their colour back .. then I up the spraying to a few times daily for the next few days and they shed perfectly every time
There’s clearly no harm in having an accurate hygrometer in with your snake .. but I tried so many cheap and mid priced ones and the readings were all over the place so I didn’t trust them anyways ..

I will stick with daily sprays and just try to relax a bit! I have had my ball python for a week and I think I'm just over sensitive about everything at the moment! The good news is he has eatten his first rat 3 days ago and is allowing us to handle him and there isn't any regurgitation so I think I'm doing okay for the most part ... But your words have given me more confidence to be honest.
Thank you so much for your help!

Re: Humidity query
No worries ..
Incidentally ideally you shouldn’t be handling it until it’s had a couple of feeds and even then you should leave it alone for 48 hours after each feed to allow for digestion .
Then handle occasionally for short periods whilst it’s still settling in .

Re: Humidity query
I did leave off until 2 days after its first feed, perhaps I was perhaps a bit premature in handling after it's first feed rather than waiting a couple of feed but I wanted to make sure he understood who I was and that there's no need to be stressed. Everything I read said categorically to leave it 2 days to allow for digestion so I absolutely followed that rule.

Re: Humidity query
No worries .. it’s just better to let them settle in and have two or three feeds first imho .. you’ve got about 25 years to handle it
