Stuck eye caps

I'm clearly new to this site so hi, now that's out of the way, onto my BP Mowgli.




I've always taken care of snakes, especially ball pythons while volunteering at my local humane society, so when I was asked to take in this snake I said no problem.
He had terrible skin which I got under control with Aloe Vera (straight from the plant... Any other suggestions to make it completely better and healed would be appreciated). But I can't get his eye caps off, I've used a bit of mineral oil, having him soak, keeping his humidity at 60, hoping that all helps it come off but I haven't gotten them to budge. I suspect there might be more than one stuck eye caps as well...

So any retained eye caps can ‘usually’ be easily sorted ..

Just get a very damp , rough textured towel and wrap the snake up in it - let the snake slither around as long as possible.. when it’s head pops out just cover it up again with the excess towel ..as it’s slithering around you should apply very gentle pressure to the head region and after a while the skin and eye caps will just come off nice and gently ON the towel .

I don’t ever try and get an eye cap off until I’ve let them shed out first. I’ve rescued a ball python that looked like a raisin with all the dry skin all over it. I soaked it and got all the skin off then kept the humidity perfect and the eye caps came off no problem the next shed. Now if it doesn’t then I would have tried to manually get it off

I agree with Danger noodles. Leave the eyecaps alone until next shed. Keep the humidity up then. There is a good chance the old eyecaps will come off without you having to mess with them.

I’ll wait until his next shed, if it’s still a problem I will use the towel trick, thank you guys!

My ball has had the stuck eyecaps a few times, over her 2 years of life. And, I always just leave it be, and it eventually comes off on its own (or I guess the bp gets its off). All I really do is spray down the enclosure a bit more to increase humidity.
