    Grumble, grumble..

Well, most of you know, I prefer to use glass tanks for my snakes. I like to set up nice pretty setups to look at, etc.
Well, I moved one of my guys into a rubbermaid. it is so much easier. I have a thin layer of coco fiber substrate, and set the rmaid atop my UTH. You know why I did it? My UTH stopped being sticky enough to stay on the tank it was on, and hehe, I didn't feel like buying a new one. I never removed it by choice from the tank, the gooey stuff just stopped working.
So yeah, I admit that the rmaids are a bit easier. But how do you keep the lids on good? Right now, I have several heavy, heavy weight thingies from my boyfriend's old barbell set (and you could imagine, this is not at all pretty looking, lol!)

Try going to a dollar store or WalMart and look for bag straps. They are adjustable and they clip. Very thick. I have one on Amani's cage, but I will try to take a picture of the one that is still in the package. Just so you know what I'm talking about.

You can also try those binder clips, the black metal clip thingys(yeah, real scientific name), you can find them at Office depot/Office Max, etc.

I recently made the switch to Rubbermaid too, and definitely concede how much easier it is to deal with. I've just put bricks on the lid to keep them on, I don't mind the aesthetics of it, it reinforces to the scaredy-cats that come visit that he's safely tucked away.

    Re: Grumble, grumble..

I use latched top underbed storage sterilite containers, so that keeps most of the lid down, except for in the center. When I just had Pelota, I'd just use a few bricks to keep it down. Then when I went to get all the stuff needed for my pastel, I picked up a box of those big binder clips, and just latched those on to the sides. Keeps the lid down nicely. You can also use those hooked bungee cord things, or take a drill or soldering gun and make some holes in the lip of the lid and bin, and use locks or string or twist ties(I did this for a bit with my females bin earlier on too, and it worked nicely), basically anything and everything that would keep a lid down, lol.

Glad you like the plastic containers. You'll really love them when it comes time to clean, and you don't have to lug around a 50 pound fragile aquarium.
