Rare blue lobster found in Cape Cod seafood restaurant, a one in two million find

An Eastham seafood restaurant made a rare find on Monday when a blue lobster appeared in a shipment to Arnold’s Lobster & Clam Bar.

A post on the restaurant’s Facebook page encouraged customers to come in and see the lobster in person.

Nathan Nickerson, the owner of the seafood restaurant on Cape Cod told NECN he hopes to donate 7-year-old “Baby Blue” to an aquarium.

According to the University of Maine’s Lobster Institute, only an estimated one in two million lobsters are blue and “the coloration comes from a genetic defect that causes the lobster to produce an excessive amount of a particular protein.”

Arnold’s Lobster & Clam Bar was ranked second in a MassLive Best of Mass. contest seeking the best fried clams in 2017.

Catch Of The Day: Blue Lobster On Display At Cape Cod Restaurant

EASTHAM (CBS) – A Cape Cod restaurant is showing off an impressive catch – a blue lobster!

Arnold’s Lobster & Clam Bar said someone brought in the unusual find after it was caught in the Atlantic. They’re inviting people to come see it for themselves at their location on Route 6 in Eastham.

It’s believed that only 1 out of every 2 million lobsters is blue.

Don’t expect to see any blue lobster rolls on the menu, however. Arnold’s says it will either release the lobster or donate it to the New England Aquarium.

    they found another back in 2016: 2016 - https://abcnews.go.com/US/lobsterman...ry?id=41266042
