Settling In and Not Eating

I contacted the breeder of my BP and they stated she ate last thursday with no problem and is ready to eat again.

So I thawed my mouse and placed it on a paper towel in her viv-per the breeder, and shut off all her lights except her night light. She did not eat her mouse. So my feeling is that she is not setteled in yet.

She is quite active at night, she is out and about.

How many more days should I give her of being alone-no handling before trying to feed her again? Any suggestions?

She may well have eaten a week ago but in that time she's obviously been shipped and then settled into a new enclosure in your house so quite possibly she's just not feeling safe/secure enough to eat quite yet.

If she's healthy and has been eating well it certainly shouldn't hurt her to miss a meal one week and I'd think far better to let her have another week to settle in properly then offer her the prey she is used to getting in the manner she is used to having it offered.

Best of luck getting her eating well for you. They do teach us patience LOL!

hey, u might have been cheated. there a serious prob if she's not eating. it shouldn't take her tht ong to get settled in.u better check n she if she's in good shape.

I wouldn't handle her at all until she begins eating. Keep trying to feed at weekly intervals, and don't panic. Mine took 3 weeks before he began feeding.

You been dealing with ball python's long? You been here one day and already handing out bad advice. I have bp's that have been settled in for months and eating well, and just decide they don't want to eat for awhile, trust me, there is NO 'serious problem' there. I have two females that haven't eaten since June, and are still in real good condition. BP's will eat when they are ready.
