Stuff you do when you take them out?

What sort of things do you do when you get your BP(s) out?

Do you let them roam the house / 'interact' with your other pets e.g. Cats & Dogs?

Do you have a 'pen' with stuff in for them to just do their thing?

I let them crawl over my legs and through my hands for a few minutes then they curl up and settle on my lap ..

My little Crowley has a whole room that is snake proofed to roam in, of course I supervise him the whole time he's in there. His room has an old bird gym that was for my mom's macaw and is now re-purposed as a snake gym by adding rope and java perches and also some plastic foliage. I also recently got him a scratching post for his room so he has a lot more things to climb. He's got 2 other small java gyms, and for when he wants to rest or hide he's got a tent (cat tent) with a heat pad under it and also 2 caves. 1 of those caves being in his old tank which is on the floor in the room, he usually loves to go in that one once he's done roaming the room.

Once he is done his "missions" in his room and had a little cave time or tent time, I bring him out on the couch, I put a blanket over the couch so he doesn't go in it... This snake has been in enough chairs and couches for his lifetime lol. I also bring out his favorite cave and put it beside me as I sit and watch tv with him.

He averages 3 hours out a day for the days he wants to come out. If he doesn't want to come out himself I don't force him and of course he doesn't come out 48 hours after eating or when he's shedding. Most times, once I put him back in his enclosure after his 3 or so hours of "missions", he just asks to come back out and rides the glass all cute, so I just know he loves his time out with me.

    Depends on the day.

Most of the time, I just hold them in my hands and let them slither around. Or I will let them slither around the couch on my legs/lap.

If it’s nice outside and not too hot, I will take them to the yard to get some fresh air and sunshine. I might let them explore in the grass for a bit. This is also when I usually take pictures of them because they look amazing in natural light, haha.

Absolutely not. Snakes are not social animals. Snake's and other pets don't mix, period. Although they are our domesticated pets, they are still predators by nature. A lot can go wrong real quick. The risk simply isn't worth it.

Especially since there's literally ZERO reward to outweigh the risk.
When snakes are out other pets are not.

I wouldn’t do it anyway. Just thought I’d ask. My dogs scared of him.

Could you put a photo up of your Java gyms?

No rooms in our house are snake proofed. I don’t take him downstairs anyway (unless I’m getting water for his bowl I put him round my neck) mainly because everyone else isn’t that fond of snakes. & my room which is in the loft/attic wouldn’t be able to be snake proofed, especially with there being spiral stairs in their an railings, tv wires, console wires etc.
I usually just plonk him on my bed and he just goes in & out of blankets, periscopes and checks the room out.
Because I only have him on the bed I was thinking about doing a pen for him so he’d have more space and things to do whilst he’s out.

Usually I take mine out and let him crawl in bed with us. Then if its not too hot I take him outside and the kids in my apt complex go crazy over seeing him.

How did you snake proof your room?

Ok cool. I just felt it was important to stress that. For this particular thread as well as if any newcomers are reading and learning.

To answer your question more specifically though, it varies by species. But since you're asking about BPs I'll stick to BPs.

I just let them cruise my lap, shoulders, couch, floors, etc...
None of the rooms in my old house are fully "snake proof" so when letting them roam the room they're always in sight. I pay special attention to couches, electrical outlets, etc... where they may get themselves into trouble or disappear into a couch or something. They're slow moving enough that I feel confident letting them roam, but I'm always right there to grab them if need be.
The cat is always napping in the bedroom with the door closed.

That changes with my faster, smaller species. But since you asked about BPs I'll stop there.
