    Help

I have a small problem. While I was in the shower Cody decided that he would take a look at bitey, he took the heat lamp off the cage and didn't shut it off. Set it on the carpet. No fire thank god, however, I now have a huge melted spot on my rug where the heat lamp was. I have scraps of carpet to replace it however I have no idea how to fix it. My landlord will kill me if he sees it, anyone know how to replace it?? Seriously, we are okay, I caught it just in time though. Cody and I had a good talk about how dangereous these things can be and how if he wants to look at something he has to wait for me.

    Re: Help

The same thing happened to me today, but it was on my beautiful wood.

I don't think there is a way to fix a bad piece of carpet. You're SOL. Sorry. You can put a runner carpet over it for now, but your landlord problem will probably turn into a huge scare for him and I would be very careful telling him. I know I wouldn't want a fire hazard if I was him.

If you know someone who does carpeting you can ask him or her if they can fix it be piecing it together, but good luck.

    Re: Help

Oh thank goodness it wasn't worse than a scorched carpet! I can imagine the landlord will freak though so I wouldn't mention it and just repair it yourself.

I did a bit of a google search for you and came up with this link (there are tons more as well), or call your local Home Depot or Lowe's and ask to speak to their carpeting expert for more advice.

I would think it will depend on the color and depth of pile of the rug as far as how well you can blend in a patch. Again a carpeting person would know best about that.

    Best of luck!

    Re: Help

Thanks guys. I have a friend that's a handy man coming over to fix it. NK on the only scorched carpet though. I have several different carpet scraps to pick from, it's going to be a trick because it's a patterned carpet. But I think we can make it work. Keep your fingers crossed!
