    Possible retained eye caps?

My little girl shed last night! Yay! And the entire skin is intact, I went to unroll it since it was rolled into itself and I can’t find the eyecaps. I checked her out and it honestly doesn’t look like they are retained but I’m not sure, could the eyecaps have fallen off the skin separately? Is it too early to tell if she has retained her eyecaps? Sorry, never had this issue before. I’ve always been able to find them on the skin. Her humidity has been perfect so I’m not sure why they would be retained. Thanks everyone. I’ll post a picture of her eyes in a couple minutes.

Maybe post a picture of the head portion of the shed? Hard to tell in those pics.

    Re: Possible retained eye caps?

Maybe do frequent water sprays in the Viv / rub or try soaking ...
I have done the occasional 25 minute soak , in snake temp water , in a sealed container - obviously leaving air space at the top but if it's a few inches deep they tend to happily spend most of the time underwater.
I have a container that has clasps on the top so it's safe to place it in the towel cupboard - which is warm and dark .
They wiggle about looking to escape for a minute or two but quickly calm down . On release I have a wet , rough textured towel ready and let the snake slither continually through the towel , when it's head appears I simply cover it up with the towel .
Anyways after the soak any dead skin or retained eye-caps simply cokes off on the towel ( has to be rough textured obviously ..

Here it is. I don’t see the eyecaps but maybe I’m missing something. Sorry I have it wrapped in a wet paper towel to preserve it. I make pendants out of it and sell them lol

    Re: Possible retained eye caps?

One of mine just shed for the first time with me and the eye caps were like round bubbles pretty easy to see in the head of the shed. If you can't see them then I agree with what's posted above. Won't hurt to do even if they did come off to be safe but can add a little stress.

I just soaked her and let her wiggle in a towel. She was such a trooper despite huffing a few times. I even took the towel and gently rubbed her eyes. No eyecaps though. I’m thinking they came off separate from the skin. Her eyes look clear and healthy. I’ll keep an eye on her definitely, but I don’t want to bug her anymore. On the bright side, she ended up peeing and pooping on me while she was in the towel lol I’ve never seen so much poop come out of such a small thing.
I also upped the humidity in her tank to 80 just in case.

    Re: Possible retained eye caps?

Haha. They are known for pooping after a fresh shed. Call it pay back for the bath.

    Update

When I checked on her today I happened to move around the substrate where she shed and I found the actual head portion with the eyecaps! Apparently it must have tore off separately while she finished shedding.

Here is the photo: https://imgur.com/a/OSTRpyb Can clearly see the eyecaps on this one. thanks everyone.
