    Dehydrated/Shedding?

My mother recently got a ball python on a whim and has sprung it on me to take care of it. It was in a 5 gallon tank with just a heating pad and a hiding spot and some water (the tank has been drastically updated since then to proper conditions) but she wasn't keeping the enclosure humid or warm enough. The snake became dehydrated and its color started to change and it looked like it was about to shed, but only its belly shed and not the rest of it. I have been placing the snake in warm water baths almost everyday and have been keeping her tank nice and warm and wet but the snake still has eye caps and still has the off looking color on its back. I was wondering if anyone else has had a similar experience where only your snake's belly shed due to dehydration. Thanks.
