Well It Finally Happened LOL

Had to happen, I was way overdue LOL but finally I have experienced my first "tag"! Of course it was Bran the Brat! She and I have been doing this dance since we got her and she finally managed to get a quick nip in as I was transferring her from the temp/travel cage back to her enclosure (I'd been cleaning). Since I had gloves on, all she managed to do was two little pin hole jabs but at least I've finally passed this rather dubious milestone in snake ownership LOL!

Brannagh is of course now happily back in her nice clean enclosure with what I'm sure is a very smug snakey grin on her evil, beautiful face. Gosh how I love that rotten tempered snake, you can't help but admire the attitude! (of course she's not really evil nor rotten tempered, she's just doing what comes naturally to Brann LOL)

Either way you look at it it's almost a form of initiation once you start keeping multiples lol. Certainly not inevitable but given enough in that sample group chances are at some point you'll eventually get a love tap!

At least you had the gloves on! Glad/Sad to hear you've been intiated. I've still to be nailed yet, but I know it's gonna be Dandylion. I don't know why, but she just seems like she's plotting against me. LOL! Of course once I get those babies in, I'll definitely have to be on my toes.

I'm already initiated but....Well, I almost got tagged by a snake today that is about as big around as a pencil and is about 15in or so long. Vicious, but I would be terrified if a giant like ourselves came and grabbed me and I was a little guy like him/her. Takes a swipe at my free hand, all I gotta do is snatch up its tail, pull it out and grab it midway and hold on, wont tag the hand that holds it, but the moving one near it. I know this little guy will get me, soon....

Thanks everyone! I swear I'm odd LOL...I'm actually quite happy Brannagh finally tagged me and I've gotten my first nip over with. Gloves are a definite must with this sassy big female though!

Thanks for the compliments on our naming theme. We love the old Irish/Celtic names and try to pick ones that suit each snakes looks or personality. I think I've posted this before but if not here's what each names loosely means and how it is pronounced.

Brannagh "bran-na" means dark beauty
Orlah "or-la" means golden princess
Saoirse "sar-sha" means freedom & liberty (a tribute to her once wild status)
Kyna "kee-na" means love & affection
Rionach "ree-o-nick" means queenlike

I haven't gotten a snake bite in awhile; but the same cannot be said for a cat bite! My little bratty kitty bit me a few nights ago, during catnip-induced playtime. He is mroe dangerous than any BP

Ginger tagged me two weeks ago....it was around 10pm the room was dark and i was getting ready to place a mouse on her large flat feeding rock. A large slab of slate that covers one corner of her cage. i open her door and move in holding her dinner and wham she struck me from behind the vine that is on the leading edge of the rock. she’s so sweet most of the time I guess she was really hungry. (She used to eat two mice every week now she’s eating rats.) I dropped the mouse on her dinner plate closed the door and took care of the blood dripping from my thumb. I don’t know what I was worried about I barely felt the hit and I’ve gotten worse paper cuts. I was more suppressed that hurt.....
