    first shed not going well.

ok, it has been 2 days so far since he started his shed .. and it is just coming off in peices ... i have the humidity up and temp up ... (humidity is average 68 to 70 ... temp is a little over 95 on high side) ...

there are plenty of things for him to rub against in the cage, which he does ... but only a little bit at a time .. then will stop again for 5 to 6 hours ...

this is his first shed since i got him, and prob only his second time to shed ... a decent amount has came off so far .. of his belly area .. but over 80% of the top part of him is still covered .. most of the skin doesn't appear to be loose yet ... should i just keep the humidity and temp up and let him keep working on it for another day or two while keeping track? .. or should i take some of the steps mentioned in other posts about a wet pillow case and such?

Re: first shed not going well.

I would soak him in a rubbermade with the lid on for about a half hour or so... fill it with luke-cold water about half way up his side, and leave him in there. Then, after he's soaked, let him crawl through a warm/wet towel.

The soaking should help loosen up his shed, so, even if it doesn't come off in the towel, he may be able to get it off himself. If not, just keep soaking him every couple of days... he'll get it eventually.

Re: first shed not going well.

thanks! ... after i did that a bit ago .. and put him back into his cage .. about an hour later he had about 60% of it all off ... from about 3/4 the way back came off all in one peice ... just a little bit left on the top of his back and some on his nose ... looks like his eyes are good ... doesnt look like there is any on there still but it is hard to tell ... does anyone happen to have a photo of what it would look like if there is still an eye cap on? ...

going to check on him again later and see how he has progressed .. and if there is still more on him in a few days will soak him again ...

he really seems to hate the water .. but loves the towel ...
